1960 Rogers Parklane, Posed & In Action

Just recently added the correct 12" tom with B&B lugs to my 1960 Rogers Parklane...and the fuzzy dice, too. The 4th pic shows James Cruce, J. J. Cale's drummer jamming with Dylan O'Brian, Dave Jackson and Dean Parks. Yes, THAT Dean Parks. It was a night of fun, as I also got to play with Ro...

Parklane/Showcase

John, I'd love to add this to my already cluttered drum/living room. No cash for such things right now. This is gorgeous, and I'm a fool for blue sparkle. This is a keeper for sure.

Early 60s Rogers Parklane for sale on eBay

Rogers Parklane for sale on eBay. (Note: this is not my listing). Some of you, including John M, have expressed interest in one of these. This set includes the famous Rogers Upbeat pedal. The outfit can also be expanded into a full drum set. This appears to be in superb condition. http://cgi.ebay.co...

Those are Rogers stick trays. Built through the Swivomatic era. They come up NOS from time to time. The pre-Fullerton ones have a better finish.

i would think a single caster would be unstable. maybe two minimum. I think i'll try and make a tom leg with caster this week. The single caster is not unstable, primarily because it does not swivel. This is why more than one non-swiveling caster would not work: it would be extremely difficult to l...

very cool... i'm curious about the stick trays. Also the wheel. The stick trays come up on eBay often. What are harder to find are the "L" arm and direction changer. The caster was offered as an option. It allows you to roll the set into a closet, or onstage/offstage, for example. It is u...

Build Your Own Rogers Parklane from Orphans

It occurs to me that anybody could build a fabulous Rogers cocktail outfit with orphans and Swivomatic hardware constantly available on eBay for a classy, great sounding, "relatively" inexpensive investment: Orphan Rogers Luxor or similar snare: $200 max Orphan 16" tom with legs: $200...

Yes, 16 x 16 and 5 x 14. The bass is like what you'd expect: very close to an 18" jazz sound. It carries very well unmiked in an average room. With the snare over the top, you get a little more snare ring when you kick, but when the music is playing it's not noticeable. I actually play this wit...

Zorf, unfortunately, these are unique to the era. The Rogers cocktail outfits were produced from the late 40s through about 1963 or 64. The mania surrounding the Beatles boy band culture killed it, as everyone (including me) wanted a Ringo drum set after that. The Swivmatic hardware was discontinued...

Zimbop, interestingly, this was considered the "economy" finish in the 50s. Back then, it was less expensive to produce a good wood veneer wrap compared with the more popular and expensive pearl wraps. Seems it's the reverse today.

Thanks, John. The pedal was from an eBay auction about six months ago. The original was lost somehow, as it was missing when I won the outfit, which, annoyingly, was offered in pieces in separate eBay auctions a few minutes apart about a year ago. I lucked out and won these over 45 minutes of nerve-...

Rogers Astoria Mahogany Spotlight

This drum set was pristine when I got it, except for cracked lugs. No pitting or rust whatsoever, like the day it came out of the music store in 1958. Wonderful silvery-frosty patina on the fasteners and tone control. I had to find some rare large size double sided B&B lugs before I could restor...

Hi John. Just got back from the gig in California where I played Stew McGoo night and day for 10 days. what a blast! Don't know the weight of the whole marianne. I can fit all of it (except the cart, of course) in three cases and a backpack that I can lug in one trip. But it is at the top limit weig...
