Porting---I don't know. They said removing the hoods on ol' vee-dub bugs was bad too. After all, the Germans engineer stuff right the first time. I heard it would actually ruin the air flow, cause your engine to burn, etc. My point is this: there will be those who'll tell you if the Drum Gods wanted...

Welcome! Things can be a little slow around here. I suspect most of the members are working a couple of jobs to support their habits! Cheap kits....hmm....well, I bought a GP cocktail off e-bay, so you probably can't get much cheaper than that. I was my first kit, and the only thing I've done is rep...

Lizard won't fit into the case, eh? Too bad! Having a "Cool Cat" at gigs would be a hoot!

Have you tried picking up a fur brush and looking meaningfully in his direction? Bet he'll FIND a way to fit then!!

Very cool! :D Tell me--what are you using for a throne? I've yet to find something suitable. Mostly everything seems too low.

Which of your kits was that, by the way?

Aww, nutz! All the luggage in our house is soft-sided! That turned out really cool--sort of an "neo-urban" look. Have you posted any sound samples yet?

I also would miss my tom. The cheezy little kit I use now has an external demi-snare, an external tom, and of course the top head of the kick. I have also put together "minimalist" kit, with a full size floor bass and 14" snare, but I always feel as though something is missing in the ...

Sounds like you're a working musician. As such--and maybe those with more knowledge will chime in here--the two brands you've mentioned are both high-quality kits that should be able to take a beating. My own limited experience with cocktail kits has led me to the realization that, a) there are not ...

I have added an old but nice sounding 13X10 rack tom, which I mount on a concert snare stand. I now have a complete roll in 4ths up and down the kit. :D I know stand vs. sitting has been discussed here before. I want to have the ability to do both. As such, this kit is sort of morphing into a "...

That's gotta be it. I've played guitar on and off for most of my life as well, and whenever you buy a new guitar, you junk the "store strings" that came on it before you even take it out of the case at home! Been experimenting with "moon gel" as well, and I am geting very ...

Couldn't stand it...recovered the batter heads with Remo Ambassadors. Suprise! The drums tune and ring nicely, now! Should have never tried messing with the stock heads....
