That would be hard to beat. Could you post some pics of that rig?

You are right. I didn't take labor, etc into consideration.

Let's look at the "Gig Pig." It's cool, but a thousand bucks sounds high. It is inspiring me to make something similar. I would try some MDF, some Roto toms, a legless high hat, and some cymbal stand hardware. I wonder if I could bring it in under 500.00? Everything used-maybe 300.00?

drummaker.com has them. I think it cost 7-8.00 for 10 delivered. My bottom lugs are pretty loose, but the locks hold 'em in.

Tuning has been an ongoing process. Since this is not a traditional floor tom, the top head resonates every time the bottom head is struck (and it is a lot.) I guess it's what it is like if you had your head in front of a kick drum. I don't usually muffle toms, so this is something new to me. Right ...

My micro kit

I know this is a cocktail forum, but the inspiration for this set came directly from this board. It is made from a 20.00 floor tom, and uses a 29.00 Pulse piccolo snare. My goal is to ditch the standard HH stand in favor of an X-hat, and to attach the snare to the shell of the floor tom. As far as c...

Do you have any ringing or resonance issues with the top head of the 16'' drum?

Dealing with resonance

Today is the first time I have had the opportunity to work on my "micro" kit. It is a 16 x 16 floor tom standing upright, with "S" arms to be attached as soon as they arrive. The kick drum sound is about what I expected, but there is a huge amount of resonance in the top head (ev...

Need to mount a snare to tom shell

Can someone point me in the right direction? I am looking a way to mount my snare-who carries such items? Thanks for your help, Swampy.

This kit will be used primarily with an acoustic group. I was thinking the more subdude kick would be a good fit. I use my full size kit/cymbals and have adjusted my technique in order not to overpower everything (even though everything is amplified.) I know it will be a challenge getting a good tom...

First post!

Hi, new guy here. I have read this forum on many occasions though. I am searching for a donor 16'' floor tom at the moment. Today, I successfully reversed the cam on one of my kick drum pedals-works great! Since I don't want to stand all night while playing, I will be making something similar to the...
