The vibes and clarinet stuff sounds pretty good. I could 'see' that in a movie. Has an 'indy' movie feel to it. Well recorded too.

The guys I party with ride Moto Guzzis - so they are not the 'biker' type. Sure, they like to drink some beer, but they especially like great food. More of an educated bunch of yahoos. John, can you use that last photo for the cocktail gallery? Call it a 'heavy metal' cocktail kit if it would make y...

I've played a lot of serious stuff, including symphony, but what I REALLY like to do is mix up styles in a comical way. I like to but a Brazilian beat onto a country song, or make heavy metal into swing, or play rockabilly with gothic rock......that sort of thing. I'm at that stage in life where I d...

Thanks Mango, We need one more guy - I think we need a guy with a Casio. I like playing all sorts of styles so I think a keyboard guy could cover bass and add chords so the guitar guy can sing a little bit. It's just a fun project. We'll probably end up playing at parties with our drunken motorcycle...

This jam session started out sort of weak, but ended up very tight and fun. I learned something about standing while playing. It's tiring as hell unless you really like the song you are playing! We did a version of 'Voodoo Chile' that started out very heavy and changed into rockabilly and ending wit...

'Heavy Metal' cocktail goes into rehersal today

I finally got all my Stagg cymbals and my buddy is coming over this afternoon with his guitars and harmonicas. We'll see what happens. Look for pics of the session and Nemo's 'heavy metal' cocktail kit later today.....

You know, I just now figured out that the gallery was more than the 8 photos I saw when I clicked on the link. I had to click on 'browse.' I wonder if anyone else did that. Maybe you could put 'more pictures' there so people can click on it. Anyway, the photos are great. I had another idea - it woul...

It will be a week or so before I actually start working with another musician - and that will be mainly blues......but my thing is making my little kit sound just like a big set. Lately I've been playing along with Led Zeppelin and getting that sort of sound - except for the double bass drum licks t...

I had a girlfriend with great rhythm once, but her bag was dancing. AND BOY COULD SHE DANCE!!! She could stop the show with her dancing. So this was the best thing for me as a drummer doing a gig. I could look out and see her shaking it. The best. One time I was in a top 40 band playing to a bunch o...

Jesper my man, I tried to find the exact weight of the PE 10" snare. Handling it, it seems light to me, but I have not handled small snares before. Certainly way lighter than a 14. But, it is a solid maple drum. The drum is quite loud. It can be tuned low or high - which surprises me. It comes ...

Well Jesper, I have the Peter Erskine picolino 10 by 4 which came with the yess mount that works great. The nice thing about this snare is that it sounds much deeper and bigger than you would think. I love the punch that it has. On the other hand, there are plenty of thin snares that could be had us...
