I've just started offering wood veneer finishes on my kits, two up for a pair in Canada include a Bubinga wood with black fade, and a Walnut Burl. Essentially adding two plys of wood to the already robust 10 ply keller shell - I'll post picts soon !

4 legs - the only way to go
Our first kits I build back in the mid 90's had three legs, way too unstable - 10.5mm legs with pull ring brackets is the only way to go for stability. Especially if your going to be running side drums and bigger cymbals... IMHO

12" bass - I use one
I use a 100 year old or so Ludwig & Lugwig Bros bass drum that came from what I believe is a childs drum set, ( I have the snare too... ) it has calf heads which I think make a very big difference in the depth of the sound, I also use a leedy pedal, circa 1920 or so - it's a piece of art ! What'...

Pedal Conversions - Suggestions -
Hey John - ( an all ) I've found the Ludwig L215FP pedal a great pedal, it's a decent pedal, and easy as pie to convert for cocktails, literally takes 3 minutes to convert, I did half a dozen this morning for kits and conversion kits. The pedal retails for about $35. I am going to be posting a YouTu...

Americana - it's a catch all - I think!
Well, the folks I've played "americana" music with range from acoustic folkie types to plugged in full bands - I guess it encompasses music ranging from the Bob Dylan stuff to alt country leaning folks like the Old 97's and The Drive By Truckers. I think if you pushed the genre, you in inc...

Guitar and drum duo
Hey There.... Matthew from Metrodrum here... I play exclusively in a duo - guitar and drums, (sometimes we play as a trio, with another guitarist too) - I use a cocktail drum exclusively also, in fact I've stopped playing traditional kits, have no need for them anymore. Recently I did a gig in Cambr...

Gilson Lavis of Squeeze flips out over his new Metropolitan
Hey y'all - we've been crazy busy mixing up some cocktails - One of our latest went over to Gilson Lavis of Squeeze. His exact words; "The kit arrived and it is by far the best stand-up I've ever played. Many many thanks. Thanks again I am truly thrilled to bits." Gilson has played with mo...

Now this is a Cocktail Drum !
Just a little humor.... when you want a cocktail drum, I mean you need a cocktail ..
Check out the last page of the Gallery....
Playing it tonight, it sounds great, and when you open the door, you get a lower
fundamental on the drum. It sounds huge!
Cheers !

cheap canister thrones
I've built a couple for customers using the furniture grade full cylinders from anderson with an MDF baffle at the bottom, and top, and fitting high density foam, and custom tuck of the material on the top ( a bit of an effort ) Not the cheapest way out, but works well, wrapped it to match the kits....

The throne I use
I have been using a old vintage bar stool with four legs and a rim that I can rest my left foot on occasionally. The kit I was using is a hipster 14, with the 10 ply shell. The bearing edge I have found works the best with the shells are 45 degree inward sloped. I know pork pie has used this bearing...

snare sounds
I have found Pearl Firecrackers, 10 and 12 with the right heads are pretty decent sounding little snares, I personally prefer the metal ones, we offer them with our kits.
