Re: Pvc pipe Cocktail-drum

Hi Peter. I don't play a cocktail drum any more - I had to sell the one I built and I haven't bothered to save enough money to build a new one. Nice to hear from you!

Re: Pvc pipe Cocktail-drum

Hi Peter. Nice to see you back, and with new drums. These look a lot more like the classic cocktail drums. Nice work.

Re: killer all-purpose cymbal

Must confess to Zildjians being a bit expensive for my wallet's capabilities. When I built my cocktail kit 20 years ago I had no idea how to outfit it with the proper cymbal. 20 inchers would tip it over so I couldn't use full size ride orcrash cymbals. After I got the drum pretty close to completio...

Sounds great! I can see how PA amplification would give you a really big sound.

Hi Peter. Nice to hear from you again! That is a good small percussion setup - any chance of hearing how it sounds?

Re: Crazy Snare Build Fun

Really clever! I've know about drums, especially snare drums, resonating with other drums but this is a very creative way of addressing one of the biggest bugaboos or cocktail drums! Superb thinking.

Re: NEW Paarl ePro Electronic Cocktail Kit!

interesting. But is this pretty much the same as just a regular drum kit with triggers? i suppose this can get more volume, electronically amplified. but wouldn't a couple of mics on a regular acoustic kit do that as well?

Great looking, very inventive way of making it portable. I would think the sound from it is quite full.

Congrats for sticking with the getting-it process and getting something you can use! It looks like, ultimately, a very well-done setup and hopefully sounds good too.

Re: Bruce the K's home-brew cocktail kit part 4

Well thought out setup! I have often wondered if you could use a 14" floor tom as the basis for a cocktail set, and you've answered the question - hope it doesn't bother you to be doing my thinking for me <Grin>! And the home brew hardware us really good too. I suspect doing it this way would s...

You have the bug all right! This looks like a very serviceable minikit that will work on most stages. Good luck and let us know when you get your cocktail drum set!

Re: Greetings from a middle-aged newbie without a cocktail k

Greetings. Great, always to have a new cocktail user, even if a future user. Good luck finding what will suit your playing style. If you are a builder, Peter Lau does some interesting things in building his own micro kits. I have no idea how many micro-kits he has put together. He has posted videos ...

Re: my mini drum project!

Hi Peter - thank you for the replies. I like the way your kits are getting smaller and smaller. Maybe some day you will make a kit that is credit card size - small enough to carry in your wallet!
