Hey Randy,
Thanks for the review. How about posting some pics of your homemade snare mechanism for us.

Hi mango How did the 16" bridge ride work out for you. I started a post considering a wuhan 16" as a crash ride on the cocktail (which would be larger than what I usually use) but I doubt an AZ would sound anything like a wuhan. Wondering how that size CrashRide worked for you. Let me kno...

42 Strand Snare

Been thinking of putting a 42strand snare on my main drum. Has anyone else tried it? Would like some input before I go cutting one of those in half. Also, has anyone tried the new Pearl clamp-on snare on a Cocktail Drum. They show them on hand percussion drums, but was wondering how they might work ...

Hey Mil'
Sorry to hear about your problems. When I had mine built, the guy reccomended a 12" snare. I guess he thought getting heads would be a lot easier. I figured with all these smaller snare drums floating around that both heads would be fairly easy to find.

GW, Thanks for the tip. I thought that I had read all the posts about baffling "the first time around", but after searching, there was a lot of good stuff that I missed somehow. Thanks again.

John, I must be doing something wrong as all I could get to come up was Aaron Nevelle's sight.

To Baffle or Not, Tha Is The Question

Thinking seriously about adding a baffle to my main drum. The biggest question I have is: Do you guys use baffles or do you get a good sound without them? What changes in the sound with a baffle? With the baffle in place, how deep is your snare or top chamber and how deep is your bass?

Man, I'm way ahead of you. I have two full sheets and some large scraps of the champagne sparkle my kit is covered in. Champagne Sparkle is a bear to match. I've ordered three times and gotten three different shades.

Thanks for the heads-up though.

I love both colors. My wife really likes the, as she calls it, pink sparkle. That was one of the reasons that she didn't say too much when I had mine built. I had the old Pearl concert toms, so went with the old school Pearl lugs to match and the champagne. Am very pleased with the results. However,...

The classic Cocktail setup? What is that? I think you'll find that pretty much anything goes around here. Whatever sounds good to you and you are comfortable with is YOUR classic Cocktail setup.
Good luck,

Multiperc, That is one sweet kit. Love the color. I have a big Fibes kit in that color. I really dig the long single headed drum. Bet it sounds great with the kit.

Mango, that is one sweet kit you've got there. I hope mine looks half that good! Jesper, it's tough to see in your pictures but it looks like you're putting it to good use... Glad to hear you players have no regrets over your investment. Looking forward to the day my new toy arrives... I think my b...

Empty Bow Gig

3/11 I'm playing what they call The Empty Bowl gig. It is where a bunch of local artist creat items, paintings, pottery, wood crafts, to auction off to give money to help feed the needy. The really "high rollers" of Little Rock come and pay like $2000 for an 8X10 picture. Anyway, I talked ...

Welcome to the Greatest Forum there is. From what I understand about Yamaha, is that they only take a long time on special order stuff, i.e. custom sizes, colors, etc. The common movers are supposed to be shipped pretty quickly. Speaking of pink drums, check out my kit on the kits side of the forum....

Cocktail Outing

Sunday, my band, Lookback Marys, is multi-tasking. We are going to meet with our prospective new manager and have an acoustic practice. I'm taking the Cocktail Kit out to play for the first time since I got the snare/bass tuning and sound down. Now for the biggie. I'm leaving my side snare at home a...
