The Message board is fixed with parental controls that try and block bad words. Apparently 'COCKTAIL' is a bad word. Fortunately it only changes the word in the Subject of a message and not the body.

An easy way around this is to write the word C0CKTAIL using the number 'zero' instead of th...

I use a stock Humes & Berg cunga flight case. Hard plastic case with casters on the bottom and a large strap. The one I got is a bit too large for my 14" drum so I have extra foam (2") in it which I love. Keeps it nice and safe. The other bonus is that the case is about 6" too tal...

I think that the system is doing some 'Parental Protection' and I guess the word Cocktail is suspicious for some reason! : > )
Hey Vince,

I have heard of both Ludwig and Slingerland single drums that have had baffles. I talked to a guy once that had a drum just like mine (25x14) that had a baffle and a hole in the side to prevent too much air compression of the kick side of the drum. I have not seen one myself and ...

Also, I imagine other companies like Humes & Berg would do custom work. There was a custom case company in Boston but I can't remember the name. They are popular for Acoustic Bass cases. Anybody know the name??

For those of you with 14" drums, I use an LP cunga bag and it is perfec...

Ah, you ask the big question! You can order the Yamaha bracket as an individual part but I believe it is expensive ($50+). I'm sure that there are people out there making them but I am still trying to track them down! You can always try and make your own (See the discussion 'Making a Cocktail Pedal'...

Hi Don,

A few people have asked this question. It appears that you have two options. Either have a custom drum made that is taller than the standard cocktail height or find a pedal that can raise the beater mechanism a few more inches.

I have never seen a cocktail drum taller than ...

Hey Joe,

Thanks for all the kind words. How to make a pedal bracket? This is a common question! It can be complicated to make one that is twisted and with adjustable width clamps.

A simple and clever idea is shown in the picture below. It may not be the sturdiest solution but it s...

Hey Rich,

Most cocktail drums are between 22 and 26 inches tall and 14 to 16 inches in diameter. Thickness varies from company to company and era to era. This is more a judgement call for the sound you are looking for. Older drums are more likely 3 -play with reinforcing rings and newer are...

Hi Pete,

I have never actually tried to make my own inverted pedal. I do have an old Slingerland pedal with a leather strap that someone switched around. Pedals with straps seam like they would be the easiest to switch. You probably need a slightly longer piece of leather.

The Ludw...
