Re: You Tube!!!

Hi, Peter. It's great to hear you are busy with concerts. I'm interested in your pedal low hat. Does it actually open and close the cymbals? That would be really cool - anything to cut down the bulk of a drumset is good! I'm looking forward to seeing it. thanks!

Re: You Tube!!!

Hi Peter. Good video! II always enjoy hearing you playing on one of your minikits. You sound great! You, Simon, and Roger are an excellent trio. I wish I could hear the whole performance, especially "Caravan." Keep up the good work!

Re: Compact "Magic Box drum"

Hi Peter. Cool setup!. I like the way you make it compact for carrying. Does the 12 inch bass head give any deeper sound than an 8 inch head?

Hi there. You might check out one of the many "microkits" and "boxtail" sets that Peter Lau has posted over time hereon. He's used everything you can think of to make snare drums souinds - and they seem to work pretty well. On my cocktail drum I use two ends of a regular snare, c...

Hi Peter. I watched your video on Youtube, on "Revolution On Motion. and it is great! It's really nice to see you in action - you have a good sense of rhythm, and a sense of what fits the music. And good ideas of how to use a small drum set! How do you decide which drum set to use? With so many...

Hi Peter. Thanks for posting the picture of the cajon snare. That is really clever! I can see how you could adjust the wires to get a good snare sound. The idea of a simple box being made into a versatile instrument is a cool "brainstorm." Nice work!

Hi Peter. Cool drumset as always, the paint job is great.

How did you improve the sound of the snare in your cajon? On a lot of cajons I've tried the snare sound is weak and i'd be interested to know how to improve it.

Thanks! - Robert

Hi Peter. It's great to see pictures of you performing with your minikit. Do you play the kit softer when you play it in church? We had a problem in my church when we had a worship band - the drummer played too loud! He used a big drumset. I think a smaller one like you use would work really well in...

Hi Peter. Thanks for the quick reply. I tried something similar to how you did the snares on this drum. I took a regular snare wire, cut both ends off at 4", and put them both under the top head of my cocktail drum. It sounded very good! Closest yet to a snare drum sound. Thank you for sharing ...

Hi Peter. I just saw this new drum project you posted. That looks really cool! It's a nice design for a cocktail type drum. Could I ask - does the snare drum have any kind of snare wires - underneath the head, inside the drum? I've been experimenting with snare wires on my cocktail kit and and still...

What I got finally: a Crate V-1512 15 watt tube amp with a 12" speaiker. Swapped out the preamp tubes for slightly less gain, sounds sweet. And nice volume too.

I'd guess you're right on that. If it were a regular music store I could see a bit of horse trading going on. Does spending that much money give you a better sense of rhythm? The heaviest "rhythm section" I ever heard was in a film clip of Big Bill Broonzey, a Delta blues musician. He was ...
