Need mini Hi Hat help....splash cymbals?
I don't want to spend a lot on hi hats. As a matter of fact, the cheap (I assume brass) 10" hats that came with my old GP kit were perfect. I actually loved their sound. But they went when I sold the kit. Now I'm tryin' to find a cheap set of hats that sound good. I tried two 12" meinl HCS...

Re: How much sound difference between 14" vs. 16"
Yea, I think so too. I do think I'm gonna do a 10" snare to hang on the main drum for when I don't want to bring the 14" snare. I'm afraid that even with the 4 legs, a 12" snare might be too big and heavy to hang on a 6 ply 14" drum.
Somethin' I will think about.

How much sound difference between 14" vs. 16"
Wondering how much sound difference in a 14"x24" vs. 16"x24"? Reason I ask is, the cocktail drum is gonna be paired up with a 14" piccolo snare. Mainly brush playin' or rod sticks. And in some occasions, a 12" piccolo snare. The gig is gonna be kind of a jazzy/R&B t...

And the journey begins...AGAIN!
Gettin' everything ready for the new cocktail kit. Gonna be a simple setup with different options. The main drum is gonna be 14"x24" 6 ply maple shell. Not really gonna hang much on this but still gonna do 4 legs for extra stability. For cymbals, think I will go with a standard cocktail cy...

Re: Where can you find these cymbal arms?
I found these... http://cgi.ebay.com/3-8-shaft-locking-collars-w-set-screw-and-allen-wrench-/290419918389?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item439e604635 Says 3/8" shaft, so I assume they will fit over a rod that is 3/8". Which is roughly 9.5mm I think? I know I have some 9.5mm floor tom leg...

Re: A couple of Pictures Just for Fun
Cool. No, the problem I was running into is my z arm is too short. Meaning the cymbal sits too low and close to the head. I needed a z arm that would let the cymbal sit higher. Looks like this gibraltar might do the trick. I would want to just remove the arm and use my own mount though. Will check m...

Re: A couple of Pictures Just for Fun
Could you please tell me where I could find a cymbal arm like that? The one with the crash/ride cymbal? I ordered a meinl arm, that looked similar to that, but it's too short. I would have to put the mount too close to the rim of the drum and even if I did that, the cymbal is still too close to the ...

Re: some tuning happiness for a 24x14 cocktail!
Cocktail kits are fun. I'm kickin' myself for sellin' my first one. But I'm in the process of buildin' another from scratch. Well, my drum guy is buildin' it, I'm just gatherin' all parts.
Would love to see a pic of your setup.

Re: Where can you find these cymbal arms?
Well, I believe I just found what I was lookin' for. Thanks to some help on the vintage drum forum. Set screw collars. They come in all sizes so I'm sure to find some that will work. Will post pictures once my kit is completed. I'm pretty sure I'm goin' with a 6 ply 14x24 maple shell and a 14x4 snar...

Re: Where can you find these cymbal arms?
It's cool. I'm gonna make a run to GC this weekend anyways so I will talk to someone about it. I did get a reply from HB drums and all they said was their cocktail arm has a clutch for hi hat but didn't really say about the bottom cymbal. I wish I could just find those rings with set screws as that ...

Re: Where can you find these cymbal arms?
Still no word on the HB cymbal arm. But this is the part I'm talking about. I have attached a picture with arrows pointing to what I am looking for. Is this a actual percussion accessory or maybe something you would have to find at a hardware store?

Re: Where can you find these cymbal arms?
Well, I did manage to find this... http://www.hbdrums.com/product/HBDCR-CDS/Cymbal-Rod-For-Cocktail-Drums.html The cymbal arm for the HB cocktail drums. Which looks pretty much like the GP's and Club Jordan. I'm just waiting to hear if they come with the mounts that holds the cymbals in place. Anyon...

No links on this site work for me. When I click them, it just takes me to a blank cocktail drum lounge screen. Doesn't direct me to youtube.

Re: Where can you find these cymbal arms?
I can't find it on the site. Is it something you have to call or email for a special order or is the actual item listed on the site? Do you know about what it costs? I might be willing to pay the extra as I really want that style arm. That's actually what I really want if it comes with the mounts to...
