Yeah, I've been debating about maybe converting it. I just converted a basix set to a micro-kit/expresso-type kit. So, we'll see...I've gotta take some pics and get my stuff up on here.

1998. I was 12...a little later than most people. I played a few instruments before I picked up the drums...hence the late start. My first set was a $100 single-headed 5-piece CB-700 set...I still have it up in my attic. It's champagne colored. It wasn't the prettiest set, but it was a great starter...

The hardware actually isn't all that bad. I mean, it's not the quality of a DW set, but it's still pretty sturdy. The finish is okay. I'm currently in the process of stripping it down and applying my own dark finish. My only complaint is that the drums are a little ringy. I fixed the problem though ...

This is kindof off topic, but the link for the clip of Thomas Lang comes from a video that he did a while back. I have it. It's about 5 hours long...I think. I haven't gotten all the way through it. There's a lot of cool stuff on it; especially stuff that refers to coordination, fills, showmanship, ...

I don't know if it's sold or not, but I will say that it is a good drum set. I have an excel sonic traveller (walnut finish). It's nice. I was suprised by the quality that I got for the price I paid. Mine needed some tweaking to get it to sound the way I wanted it to, but I still think it's awesome....

My First Time Standing

When I first started playing the cocktail drum I thought people who stood were crazy. I just couldn't give up my hat tricks and my complex foot beats. But, wow. All I can say is wow. I tried playing standing up yesterday. Man, it's awesome! It's so...liberating. I mounted a closed hi-hat on my right...

I guess i'm a cheap...oops...I mean...frugal...minimalist. I just use a 30" wooden stool that has a small cushion. I kindof half sit-half stand. It's perfect for me ( I'm 5'8 )...and it's probably cheaper than anything I could rig. (It was a $15 special at Rose's.) So, if your looking for a goo...

I use a standard size cocktail drum and just sit on a 30" stool. It works great for me. I have complete control of my hi-hat stand with my left foot and I don't have to struggle to do fancy beats with my right foot. Most people like to stand while playing cocktails, but, really, as you'll hear ...
