Could you take a couple 15" tom cases, remove the covers and zip them together to make an extra deep case? A luggage shop should be able to rework the zipper for you. Or did you want hard cases? How about the same idea, just strapping together two rigid cases with the covers removed. Some cleve...

I like the clever way you use a tom leg to stabilize the stand to the main drum.

Re: Remote Hi Hat Conversion

If you're considering a remote hihat unit, I have a pearl eliminator RH2000 for sale at the moment. It's a great unit, I just found a DW for a great deal while I was waiting for the pearl to arrive. $150. Do you still have the pedal? No, I sold it. Sorry. They come up on ebay pretty often. I would ...

I play traditional ,but get this, I'm not even left handed. I don't know why , but that's the way I started when I was 15yrs. old. I'm 65 now. I think it's too late to change. Good luck with all your endeavors. Dr Ron I guess no matter how you mix it up, the half-lefty, half-righty thing is interes...

Zimbob Sound confusing, but at least you won't get alzhimers, keeps your brain active huh? I've got my hats on the left for the cocktail set. It avoids the crossover. I might get a remote hi hat for my regular drums and put it on the left as well. As soon as I have my cocktail renovations finished ...

Zimbop Thanks for the howdy, did I read that you were a left handed drummer? I am also, but I set up my drums lefty. Everything is reversed. The kid is pretty good, isn't he? I love the sound of his kit. Apparently it is a custom job. I'd like to know about the heads he is useing. Dr Ron Yes I'm a ...

Welcome. Enjoy your kit!

As for the kid, I am jealous, his main drum sounds much better than mine.

The ride tended to build up and get washed out when I played fast or loud on the little crash. So, next I started experimenting with sticks! I found that lower mass (smaller) sticks allowed me to play naturally but did not overdrive the ride sound as much. I still needed a little more so I started ...

I love my 13" Sabian AA El Sabor Salsa Splash. It's my main cymbal because it's a nice crash, at 13" it's more subdued than larger options, it rides ok, though it washes out more than a true ride cymbal, and it has a great bell. It's smallish so it doesn't have a really big sound, but it's...

I never preferred Maple drums personally, so go see that kit and if you like the sound then don't worry about it. That price is certainly nice compared to a new CJ. I definitely suggest checking out pics of member kits to see what else is out there. You can do it cheaper youself by building from scr...

The only commercially made one I have seen was a Peace Manhattan kit. It was ok for the price I guess (around $350) but it definitely had the bargain sort of feel to it. The Yamaha Club Jordan was way out of my price league, so I sort of concocted my own. There are several active members here who pl...

Ok so I've started seeing more of these now. GC locally has a couple other cymbals. They reiterate that it's a sabian product but still don't know much and Sabian seems to pretend they don't exist. Now that I have them home and in my kit, I can safely say that they're an ok solution for now, but I'm...

The price certainly stopped me from buying one. I also enjoyed putting my own together, but I wouldn't have even sprung that kind of money for a full kit either.
