Great topic! Playing my Cocktail Kit, I find comparing it to my regular kit, that it just doesn't have the "oomph" that a regular kit has. It is a sound all its own. When I do a fill, about half way through it, it dawns on me that I'm playing the Cocktail Kit and it doesn't sound anything ...

Hey Scott,
Welcome aboard. Lot of useful info floating around here and a heck of a bunch of nice folks. Since we seem to be in the minority, we all try to stick together. :D
If you have questions, just ask and I'm sure someone will give you the correct answer.
Again, welcome,

1961. Red sparkle 3 pc. Sears & Rareback set. My mom co-signed for me to finance the $100 so I could make payments. I was in the 7th grade and never looked back.

DUH!! I never even thought of adding another bracket specificly for th eSide-Kick.

OH Yeah, ratatattat, you're going to have to get a bigger drum if you put any more stuff on it.HAHA. I love seeing Cocktail Drums filled up with stuff. Cool.

John, thanks for your support. You will love the new Jordan. That is basically what mine is only Phattie-built and a couple of extra toms. I think you will do well using a larger snare when called for. Mine is a 12" and works great with the rest of "the family".

The music I play or the band(s) I play with can tolerate either/or Cocktail Kit or trad. kit, so I have decided to take a long needed break from the trad. kit as my main axe and concentrate on the Cocktail Kit and/or my congas. I will always have a trad. set set-up but for gigging, I'm going to try ...

Cocktail Kit & Congas

Told my wife tonight that I think I'm going to start playing my Cocktail Kit and/or Congas exclusively. Retire the regular drum set for a while. Just think that I need a change of pace. Any comments?

Vater makes a new lambswool beater called "The Bomber". About $18 I think.

I could never get it angled the way I needed it when sitting down. If I got the footboard in a good position, then the beater was in an awkward position. All of what I'm saying is in relationship to my snare being in the traditional position of a regular sit down kit, between your legs, and it may j...

Yeah, works great when standing. Sitting, it won't move to the position I wanted to feel comfortable using the high hat also. Sitting, I use a reversed DW 5000. The feel of the Sidekick is good and for standing, I would highly recomend it.

You cna get the RIMS mounts at leecustom.com and at good prices. Never tried one of the floortom types, but have heard that the leg bracket screws tend to strip out occasionally.

John, that is the same bracket that is on my Opti-Mount, but if you used an Opti-Mount with your drum, it would probably be too high also, but just the bracket alone would more than likely work just fine.

Thanks again!
I've actually used the Pearl Jungle Kit setup and it works great. However, I didn't use the ISS mount, but used a Pearl Opti-Mount and it made it rock solid.
