I couldn't hack the stand-up playing, the uneven foot heights tweaked my back something fierce. So I adapted my kit to sit down and I love it.

I have a pair of vic firth dowel sticks. They're actually quite nice for quiet playing. They are not all created equal though. The ones I have use a core of soft mushy material surrounded by a perimeter of dowels. This makes them soft and quiet. I have used others that have dowels inside as well and...

I was thinking about reversing a DW7000 single pedal because they look like they have more adjustments that might suit the oddball use. I am using an Iron Cobra backward now and it's ok, but there's no useful adjustments for this application. What's your impression of using the DW7000 this way?

Re: pedal bracket

Here's another idea for you cocktail drummers out there who want a secure pedal placement / bracket. Find a floor tom leg with double 90-degree bends in it (like a z-rod). Using a Dremel tool or hacksaw, cut off the "foot" of the leg right below (or maybe above) the bend closest to the fl...

All that accordion talk reminds me of... The accordion player who parks his car downtown. After he walks a block or so he realizes his instrument is in the back seat and wonders if he should have locked the car. He decides it's safe enough and doesn't go back to lock it. He shops a while, and when h...

Well, this one really isn't a joke per se, but it's a funny thing I wrote a while back: What I learned at the Guitar Center Drum Off 1. If you don't have a double bass pedal you haven't lived. 2. Grooves have no place in a drum-off, metal solos ONLY. 3. If you get out of rhythm, or completely suck t...

Re: Cymbal Tricks?

Hello All, I looked at some of the other entries regarding cymbal issues but don't see what I need. My question is: do any of you have any tricks for keeping down the overtones on a ride cybal? Mine has a nice "chick" sound, but has more sustain and treble than I want. It's subtle but lik...

I use a piece of dense short-nap rug under my whole kit. Actually it's a 4x6 area rug from Ikea, and it looks great too. Cost something like $29. It keeps the pedal positioned pretty well, though I still want a bracket just to ease placement and for extra security. MetroDrum now sells a pedal bracke...
