Took some more pics. Decided I'm gonna go with this setup. I had originally ordered some boom arms but I think when they come in I will return them to guitar center for a refund. I do want to replace that 14" crash with a 16", but no hurry. This 14" just sounds a lot better than the s...

Thanks. It was too gloomy of a day to get them outside for better pics. I have learned one thing though. I'm not sure if the cocktail drum is for me after all. I have spent a lot of time playin' today and when I play more fast temp stuff, my shin and calf feels like it wants to cramp up. I'm sure it...

Went and got my drums this evening and I love the results. I just put it together quick and haven't had time to really tune. The snare is awesome though. My drum guy (Billy Baker) fixed it up nice!. What he did... Fill in the old lug holes, just 1 hole for each lug and installed these newer lugs. Fi...

Stauffer Percussion selling pedals and cases...

I don't know if this is new or not but just noticed Stauffer Percussion has another site called mycustomdrums.com. You can get a reversed gibraltar pedal for $130. Has cases and cocktail drums too. Pretty cool...

I wouldn't have changed the lugs if I didn't have these. I just had a spare 12" and 13" tom I once used for my acoustic/electronic kit. So it was no extra expense. The black onyx pearl will look great. I noticed my wrap had some scratches and was bubbling in small areas. It wasn't that bad...

Update... I dropped the cocktail drum and firecracker snare off yesterday. The ruby red diamond pearl wrap looks great. This guy does some nice work. Was checkin' out some of his other projects in his shop. Goin' with new wrap, I decided to replace most of the hardware. The lugs on this kit wasn't i...

Pearl AX-20 Clamps and 10" 6 lug rim mount

I've got a couple Pearl AX 20 clamps and a rim mount (with tom arm) thats for a 10" tom with 6 lugs. Lookin' to get $30 shipped (lower 48 states only) for both AX 20 clamps and $30 shipped (lower 48 states) for the rim mount and arm. The rim mount will be takin' apart for shipping. http://i24.p...

Hey thanks for the tip murph. By the way, your band rocks! Love rockabilly. I'm hoping once I get my kit finished and get more comfortable with the stand up playing, I can put together a similar style band here in Nashville. I got eveything ordered this morning and forgot to add the Aquarian perf. I...

Well, I got my heads and other hardware ordered. I found a guy local who's gonna wrap the drums for me. I got a pretty sweet deal on some drum wrap too. Everything should be in by the middle of next week. Then depends how long it takes to get wrapped. I'm gonna let him look over the repair job I did...

Re: heads

I am pretty much just familiar with Remo Powerstrokes and some Evans heads...I have yet to use any other brands, sorry I can't give you an informed opinion on it. Thanks, I was actually askin' tiki. He said that's the head he uses. I guess I should have mentioned that in my post. But, do you like th...

Do you think the Aquarian Performance II would be good for a 15" drum? My main drum is 24"x15". Still haven't decided which route I want to go. My guitar center has these in stock but not the powerstroke 3 in 15". Hate to have to pay shipping for the remo, but I might have too. S...

Sounds good tiki. I think I seen a video on youtube where someone said a vintage remo really made their popcorn snare come alive. I did compare a 10" firecracker snare and a 12" pork pie snare and the 12" snare felt pretty heavy. I don't know if that's the case with all 12" snare...

Well, I think I'm gonna go with the 10" snare. I mounted the 10x5 tom in the snare position and it just visually looks better. Anyone with experience knows the big difference between a 10" and 12" snare. Both are 5" in depth. I guess if I ever did gig with the kit, if needed, I c...

10" or 12" snare?

I want to get a steel snare for my kit. Something better than the stock 8". I want steel so I wont have to wrap it. The steel goes with anything. Guitarcenter has the steel firecracker for $129.99. Same price for 10" or 12". I dont have any way to test since my local guitar center doe...

I have decided I'm gonna go with a 12" snare mounted to the cocktail drum. Might go with the Pearl steel that way I wont need to wrap it since the steel goes with anything. So, I will probably go with either 10" or 12" hats. Probably do the 2 12" splashes. But I'm just gonna wait...
