Re: Happy 2014! An introduction.
Hi Tan, Sounds great. I started with one of those cheapo kits too, and now I have a top-of-the line kit that functions much better. I use it for church gigs quite often. It's good to start with one of those basic kits until you find out if you like to play standing up and want to invest in something...

Re: Greetings from a middle-aged newbie without a cocktail k
Hi Comet, I like your kit. It's very similar to my cocktail kit. I also play standing up, by mine has a 16x16 vertical bass drum with the snare and toms mounted high over it (like your snare drum) instead of a traditional cocktail drum. I find it's actually much easier (egonomic) to play this kind o...

Re: Tiki Cocktail Set
Hi,
I also play open-handed, but the problem I'm having with my cocktail set up is that putting the ride and hi hat cymbals on one side of the kit puts quite a bit of weight to the one side (since the snare is on that side too).

Re: WTB - First Cocktail Kit
Hi, Yes, those are the ultimate cheapy cocktail kits, but it will give you an idea as to whether or not you like it and you could always resell it when you decide if you want to get one made custom. You'll find that the cheapy ones sound like childrens' drums and are not very sturdy. When I built my...

Re: WTB - First Cocktail Kit
Hi,
I would start out with one of those inexpensive kits and make sure you like playing it. Inevitabely, if you really enjoy playing a cocktail kit, you'll want to have one customized and built for you, so don't spend a lot of money on the first one you play.

Hi,
Nice pictures. It helps to see what you are talking about.
I hope you can post some pictures of the custom build you did to replace this one.

Hi Bruce,
Please post some photos. I think it would help since you've made a number of small modifications to the kit.

Re: This is where I'm at for bigger venus...
Hi Baker, Your kit looks great, but I'm still struggling with whether or not a kit with 4 cymbals and extra stands is a "cocktail" kit, so I"m still just using a couple cymbals attached from the main drums. But, I think as long as we play it "standing up" it's a cocktail kit...

Re: Strange behaviour on ebay, I think.
Hi Jottsen, I feel bad for you. It sounds like that seller doesn't understand anything about the cocktail kit. If he isn't willing to work with you, I would buy the other parts from him, and then go back later and file a complaint with eBay and make him agree to a partial refund (and/or leave him a ...

Re: WANTED: Drum Pedal Bracket
Hi Mango,
Check out the Pearl PS85 Pedal Stabilizer and see if it would attach to your pedal. It's much better than using a "bracket." There's no need to attach it to any of the legs and it is just as sturdy.

Hi Jesper,
You might be able to find the same part through Yamaha. It might just be one of their standard pieces of mounting hardware.

John,
Yes, I like this one too. I've never seen any kind of drum kit with a sideways kick drum.
