Re: New music w/ cocktail drum

Very similar, but I couldn't imagine the Cowboy Junkies without the guitars.

New music w/ cocktail drum

The band Needle, who plays in this website's player, has a new album - actually an EP - out. It's called Saint Timothy's and uses a cocktail drum set. It's recorded very clearly and you can hear the cocktail drum very well. The music is Needle's style of slowcore, very nicely done. www.needlemusic.c...

Re: Need crash/ride, mini-hihat ideas

I must have spent close to $700 trying to find a good crash/ride cymbal, ended up using a Sabian B8 14 in. thin crash. It was the first one I ever bought, and the least expensive! Oh, well, live and learn. Also, a pair of Wuhan 8 in. splashes on an X-hat holder. They sound good and don't overpower a...

Re: Rods

I, too, use the Vic Firth Routes 505, and they are really good for cocktail drums - had them for years, and no breakage whatsoever. Peter is right - they can be a bit soft on cymbals but if I need a really beefy cymbal hit, I turn the Rutes around and use the handle end on the cymbal. That gets a re...

Re: 2 new drum project done!

These sets may not eb cocktail type drums, but it's always fun to see what you come up with, Peter. I like to see how small a drum set can be, and still be usable on stage. Small is beautiful!

Re: Question about snare wires

Hello - I have a homemade snare on my cocktail drum that I made from a regular snare drum snare. I took the two ends of the snare, cut the wires to 3 1/2 inches, kind of a paintbrush looking shape. I mounted them on a rim-clamp damper - took the damper pad off and put a screw through the metal ends ...

Re: Compact Drum with Remote Cable Kick Pedal

Hey, Peter. I looked at the Youtube video, and it is great! A whoie set - that really shows off the whole group nicely. Your drum kit fits in soundwise so well, and the oud (or gambus - same thing?) really adds to it. Thanks for posting.

Re: gig's photos

Cool - the "Ford" style drumset if I remember right. I like the way yoiu have that mic'ed up - small lavaliers? Deos it sound better than one mic over the whole set?

Hi Peter. Cool pictures. I bet the beautiful setting helps the music. Is that an Arabian oud in this last picture?

Re: gig's photos

Hi Peter. It's nice to see the pictures of your concerts. Having a choir with your group must mean the group has a really big sound for the performance. That's cool! Thanks for posting and keeping us up to date.

Re: Compact "Magic Box drum"

Hi Peter. Thanks for posting - it's always cool to see your work in smaller drumsets, especially in your band setting. Simon is using a Kala Ukulele bass, isn't he? Keep up the creativity - it's one reason I like cocktaildrum.com.

Hey John. It's cool to see a "weapon of choice" in an actual performance setting. I take it your cocktail drum carries well enough to not need amplification on such a gig? Thanks for posting.

Re: The current Trixon cocktail kits

Hi Garvin. I listened to the Youtube video. That's a good drumset and you play it well. Nice going. Very interesting, also, to see and hear about the Trixon brand.
