I kinda think that standing helps you develop other areas of playing. Sure it's tough to stand and play, let alone stand play and use a hat but take it from me, I have 2 left feet and terrible balance and playing standing up really give you a whole new perspective on playing. The great thing is when...

I haven't personally used one but depending where you put it I would be concerned about whether it could handle the SPL of either the kick or the snare. As an overhead it would be fine.

I can't really remember the total cost, but the rims were about $40.00 each or so. The shell was maybe $175.00 give or take. I bet I'm in about $600.00 canadian for the cocktail drum itself with hardware, rims mount, skins strainer Etc. The toms were made years ago for another kit of mine. I got the...

I'm not sure that there the same things I have or not but if they are, they are basically a practice pad. I have a few cheap trigger in mine that I never use. This reminds me, maybe it's time to unload some of this.

I looked and priced out a shell for a cocktail kit but stopped thinking about it once I realized that I would need to dampen the kick and that would look terrible. A clean shell with no dampening would look killer. Maybe one could trigger it, who knows

My first kit was a blue sparkle Champion kit. Kick, snare, tom splash. Parents paid $75.00, a month later they realizes that it would cost more to upgrade after I busted a few parts out and purchased me a 5 piece Dixon kit with hats and ride. I kept the ride until last year I gave it to a kid just l...

The first cocktail kit I ever saw live was an Ayotte. It was a good sounding kit. The drummer was excellant, great singer and player. He was with a canadian country act George Fox. It is worth the price. Ayotte drums have there own sound and are pretty smokin. If I didn't just buy a new guitar I may...

I actually owned a kit identical to the green AT set up. It is an interesting concept that worked pretty sweet. You could tune the toms while playing if they went out of tune due to heat or air-conditioning by just giving the steal rim a tap. The kick drum was a monster in both sound and weight. The...

Well that's the rub with the cocktail kit. It forces you to have to change your style and thought process. If you only want to play with one hat but don't want to use a remote hat setup you'll have to learn a whole new world of hurt called dynamics. Even if you have good dynamics the cocktail kit ag...

I got these containers at Canadian Tire in Canada. I did a bunch of touring in the US but I can't think of anything similiar tonight. I would check Walmart. There are several truck toolboxes that are close or might work. Check your local (if in a city) plastic container maker. I've found some good p...

Multiperc, the case empty is extremely light. It's all plastic. I just reinforced the bottom with ply wood though. The plastic is a little brittle so when it's cold you do want to be careful with it. When loaded I can handle it by my self. I usually load it in our gear van, but when my girlfriend gi...

I use 14" Dark Custom K hats, sometime 13" A's for hats. 17", 18" Dark Custom K crashes, Paiste 20" signature series dry ride. The odd time I'll put on a 10" A splash. This is what is mostly used on the cocktail set up.
