Remote Hats

Hey Dinkus, Thanks for the great pics!! Everyone should check it out. Nice setup. That's what I like to see, experiment and find out what works for you! I just saw a new mount by XL specialty for adding a closed hat to free floating snares. I'm curious if it will work with other rims: http://www.mus...

Cocktail Drum Heads and Tuning

[This thread has been moved to a new topic so that others may contribute] Hi Fan, I believe I posted this somewhere else a long time ago but.... I have several Slingerland drums that are all 25 x 14 with NO internal baffle. I have actually not had a chance do own or do serious work with a larger dia...

Heads and Tuning

Hi Fan, I believe I posted this somewhere else a long time ago but.... I have several Slingerland drums that are all 25 x 14 with NO internal baffle. I have actually not had a chance do own or do serious work with a larger diameter drum so I can't give any advice on those. After lots of experimentin...

Remote Hat

Hey Dinkus, Gongrads! I think that you may be the first! :D So my question is, which foot do you put most of your weight on? I'm guessing that you have the hat pedal back a bit from the drum so that you can keep you feet somewhat perpendicular. Either that or you have a really heavy drum and you str...

Cocktail Cymbals

I've been using a single 14" Zildjian Custom 'A' crash for several years now and it has served me well! It has a great crash , great bell, great build between ping and crash, AND with the right stick, a great ride sound. Since my drum is a 14" it helps keep the balance together really nice...

The Sideman

Hey Willy, Yeah, the sideman looks cool. I picked up a couple of them a while back but haven't had a chance to set them up. Glad to hear they work well! Another tip on hardware: I'm sure everyone is familiar with the LP Claw which is available with a cymbal, cowbell, or mic attachment bbut Gibraltar...

Gretsch Lugs

Hi Jason,

I would keep your eye out on ebay. Other than that. Check some of the vintage drum message boards out there on the internet. it might take a while but I'll bet you'll find it!

Standing with Hi Hat

Hi Dinkus!

Welcome to the board! Well, I have yet to hear of someone using a hi hat pedal in the standing position. If you sit, you may have a chance!

See the next posting for more info on hi hat possibilities!

Hi Hats!

Yeah Keith! You got it! I play probably 20% of my gigs on cocktail kit and it IS a different instrument! I think that to REALLY get into it you MUST take this approach. It's really deep if you invest the time to explore the possiblities. Look for different textures. Replace one sound with another. R...

I don't know if Remo is making these anymore or not. Anybody know?

They are made of a synthetic shell (I believe like their Djembes) some sort of fiberboard/epoxy composite.

There is a reverse kick underneath and a conga/djembe head on top. There is no snare mechanism at all. I pla...

You have to get a Conga case. I have a Humes & Berg which is amazing. Sad thing is I don't know the model number. My 14" drum fits with extra foam added so the 15" Jordan drum should fit as it comes stock with foam. There is about 6" extra that can fit some hardware and/or an extr...
