Re: Single Head Cocktail Drums?

I once had a 70s, may have been a 80s ludwig kit that had the concert toms. I was mainly referring to the cocktail drums in the gallery. Looks like 14x24 drums, but no bottom head for a kick drum. The cocktail drum I'm havin' built will have top/bottom heads. Just thought those was interesting. Steve

Single Head Cocktail Drums?

Been browsin' the gallery and noticing some of the vintage cocktail drums bein' single top heads. So, what was the main purpose in that? Just maybe like a big snare that you can mount your cymbals/accessories on? I have noticed when listening to some old 50's songs you don't hear a kick drum. Mainly...

Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)

Well I called my Guitar Center and they didn't have them in stock. I decided not to order one anyways. I picked up a really cheap Pearl forum 14" tom. So I'm gonna use all that hardware and have the drum wrapped in gold glass glitter to match my other kit (posted in "going another route&qu...

Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)

Yea, I'll be ordering from MusiciansFriend (which I believe is the same company as GC) since there is no sales tax and free shipping.

Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)

Thanks for the info. Yea, I actually just seen the Pearl M-80 and that's why I said I'm goin' with a 10x4 snare. I'm gonna do the 4 legs. 4 legs with 8 lugs look better as the mounting bracket are centered between the lugs. Like you said, 2 in front and 2 in back. And for the extra stability. Gonna ...

I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)

I think I have made it clear I like my "slim jim phantom" style setup. I recently listed my cocktail stuff in the classifieds but since there have been no interest, I've decided I'm gonna go forward with the build. Want to keep it simple and compact. I'm havin' doubts on the small drum. 14...

Re: Pedal Brackets

check hbdrums.com If they dont have them listed on site, try email. I know they sale cocktail accessories, like cymbal arms. They can probably get you a bracket and their prices are pretty cheap.

14"x24" 6ply Maple Shell For Sale

Not sure if it's a Keller. I got it from drumfoundry and it was about $125 shipped. Brand new, 14"(dia.) X 24"(tall) 6ply maple shell. Would make a nice cocktail drum (my original plans) or cut it down to make several 14" snare drums. $100 shipped Only reason I'm selling is I'm liking...

Re: Wanted Cocktail Drum kit Condition doesen't matter!

I think he's talkin' about somethin' like the ludwig gold coast kit. I've attached a picture. I don't think should be too much buzzing issues with the snare. Now if he wants a standard cocktail drum, say 14"x24" with bottom bass and snare wires under the top head, I could see some issues t...

Re: Gonna go a different route...

Yea, I don't know. I thought it was a front hoop spur like Gibraltar (with spikes). But what he had was the spur for the pedal so I didn't try it. I've noticed it rocks more on carpet. I put the drum on my hardwood floor with regular thin drum rug under it and it didn't rock as bad. My cocktail peda...

Re: Gonna go a different route...

A buddy of mine has some type of spur that mounts to the front hoop. I think I will try that to see if it will help with the rocking.

Re: Gonna go a different route...

If by creeping you mean moving forward, no. But it does rock a little when playing. I'm seriously considering just mounting the snare on the kick though. Wonder if that would help the little bit of rocking?

Gonna go a different route...

I'm still gonna have a cocktail kit built just gonna put it on hold for a bit. The snare has been completed and is nice. I have everything needed for the cocktail drum. But the wrap is gonna be $75 and then there is labor costs of drilling, edges, wrapping, etc. So, I'm puttin' it on hold and gonna ...
