Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)
Steve,
Sounds good. Can't wait to see the pics.
I think the 4 legs and 8 lugs will be great. It should be able to support whatever you ad later.

Re: Single Head Cocktail Drums?
Steve,
OK, I see what you mean. I think a modern cocktail kit definitely needs a kick drum on the bottom!

Re: Single Head Cocktail Drums?
Hi Steve, It was just the trend to use single-headed "concert toms" during the 50s/60s/70s (due to orchestral influences). However, the double-headed toms became standard since the 80s. It also wasn't popular to elevate the sound of the kick drum during those earlier eras (due to the influ...

Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)
Yea, I'll be ordering from MusiciansFriend (which I believe is the same company as GC) since there is no sales tax and free shipping. Steve Steve, If you order it from Musicians Friend, you won't get the snare until sometime in August. Pearl does not have any stock of that item in any of their dist...

Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)
Steve,
When you order the M-80 snare drum, make sure you get the $59.99 price that is listed on the GC website (I think the stores have it for $69.99 but they will match the lower website price).
Be sure to put up some pictures when you get the build done.

Re: I need some help from cocktail drummers (Project Build)
Hi Steve, You won't have any problem hanging a 10" snare from the 14x24 shell with either 3 or 4 legs. Just be sure to put the legs in balanced positions around the drum to keep it steady. 4 legs is nice because you can get 2 in the back and 2 in the front of the shell for more stability withou...

Re: Wanted Cocktail Drum kit Condition doesen't matter!
SRT80, You're right. If the snare is mounted directly above a horizontal kick drum (like the Ludwig in your photo), the snare buzz can be eliminated merely by tuning the drums properly. I was thinking of the problem of mounting the kick drum and snare drum concentrically (vertical kick drum) or usin...

Hi Peter, I've enjoyed looking at your mini-kit creations! Keep up the good work. I've built 4 or 5 cocktail kits over the past few years and they keep getting a little better each time. I'm not as creative as you are, but I'm trying to perfect a modern version of the stand-up cocktail kit with more...

Hi,
You might want to reconsider using a cocktail kit with a "side" snare. When the snare is mounted concentrically above the kick drum, there is a lot of snare buzz.

Re: Gonna go a different route...
Hi, That sounds like it might work. However, it would probably be better to secure the heal of the pedal. The drum might still be a little too light and top-heavy for one of those front hoop mounts to keep it steady. You might find that the drum doesn't rock "forward" with the hoop mount, ...

Hi,
Your little set up looks nice.
Do you have any issues with that shallow kick drum "creeping" since it doesn't have any weight on top of it?
