Re: back after a two year absence

Very interesting, as Arte Johnson would say ... Shows that once you get infected by the desire to make what YOU want for percussion, ain't no stopping it!

Re: my mini drum project!

Hi Peter. Cool drum sets, as always - you have a great creative mind. Can you use these sets with the very thin bass drums on stage if you amplify the set through a PA system?

Re: Live video with guitar&cocktaildrum duo

Very well played and sung! The duo idea gives a good full sound that doesn't take a lot of acreage onstage. I like this and would certainly come to hear your group play. Keep up the good work.

Re: back after a two year absence

It's cool seeing there are still folks on this forum, and still playing the beloved style of drum. Bruce - I'd be interested in seeing what you have done with the drumset - I've been interested in using "secondhand" parts and drums to come up with usable instruments. Take care, all, and ke...

Re: my mini drum project!

Hi, Peter. I really like they way you are making percussion sets for traditional music. Since you use a lot of foot pedals can you perform in place of two or more regular percussionsts?

Hi Peter. It's great to see you on the forum again, with the small drum sets. And to hear the great music as well!

Re: cocktail-warshboard-new build

Matter of fact I'm going to check with my local music store and see if they have a cheap floor tom. I think I'll try something along the same lines. Great idea!

Re: cocktail-warshboard-new build

Interesting setup! It looks somewhat like something Peter Lau would come up with. But with this sort of setup each builder has their own take thereon. I'd probably label it "assemblage #so-and-so" in case an art gallery wandered by! Seriously - looks cool. Bet you'll keep it to purely acou...

Re: back after a two year absence

Hey MM. It's great to see some oeople still active here. Sounds like you are on the track to a dream kit - it'd be great to see pictures thereof. That's the cool thing about cocktail drummery (is that a word??) - DIY is not only encouraged, it's revered. Had to sell my kit - forcibly retired from my...

Re: back after a two year absence

Greetings and welcome back. It sounds like you've had a really tough time of it! I'm glad you are still with us, and active. There isn't much activity on the forum any more - the posts are few and far between, maybe one every week or two. It is really sad to see the "scene" kind of fade - ...

Re: Guitar and cocktaildrum duo. Have a look

Hello - I just came across this page and looked at your videos on Youtube. Nicely done! You both are good musicians and your playing as a duo fits together very well. Your songwriting is good too. I certainly would go to a club or restaurant to hear you play. As for sitting at your cocktail kit, I w...

Re: New music w/ cocktail drum

Yes - I think that would sound entrancing. Simple beats and accompaniments are hard to do, but when they fit, come together so to speak, the music is on a level above the ordinary. The cocktail drum can make that a good possibility when you play it with a good group.
