Hi guys: long time, no rap.
I put away my cocktail kit. The project I was forming fell apart. But a funny thing happened: My dad came out here and he plays guitar and sings old school country swing stuff (think Chet Atkins or Les Paul and Mary Ford stuff). I accompanied him on the cocktail kit and it was a blast!
This has renewed my interest in pursuing a swing/country band using the cocktail kit!

It's a cheapo Empire kit in blue. But really, it doesn't sound that bad. I put on Remo coated ambassador heads on top and bottom with a square, sofa pillow wedged against the inside of the bottom head.
I was checking out that ebay picture of billy cobham's cockertail kit. I see how his snares were really short so I just took a wire cutter and cut mine down. Man! What a difference! The snare side still has plenty of buzz but now the bass side doesn't as much.
