cocktail-warshboard-new build
Hi All,
I have been working on this, mostly when I was recovering from surgery. Not sure what to call it.
Maybe you all can give me some input as to what I should call it.
Thanks,
Mike Long AKA ratatattat
PS I will post pic asap

Me too! I can't think of a thing to call it.
Guess you guys can't either.
Oh Well. I tried to play the thing out, and it really is not loud enough without running it through the PA or an amp.

Interesting setup!
It looks somewhat like something Peter Lau would come up with. But with this sort of setup each builder has their own take thereon. I'd probably label it "assemblage #so-and-so" in case an art gallery wandered by! Seriously - looks cool. Bet you'll keep it to purely acoustic instruments.

Thanks Robert,
One of my friends said if it didn't sound good I could call it sculpture!
It doesn't sound bad, for what it is, and it is perfect for an acoustic group.
It is a crutch with a 12"x 14" old WFL floor tom I've been dragging around for years.
I made the snare drum from a 8"Slingerland concert tom I had lying around too.
Assemblage # 1.

Matter of fact I'm going to check with my local music store and see if they have a cheap floor tom. I think I'll try something along the same lines. Great idea!

Hey Mike,
Do you have any more pictures? It looks great but it's a little hard to tell exactly what is going on with some of the pieces. Looks like there is no pedal? And there is a washboard mounted somewhere -somehow...
Very cool!

Thanks John,
My friends said I have too much time on my hands.
I think they are right!
There is no comparison with peter Lau's stuff though. He rules!
Thanks!

Awesome!
I still can't make out the entire thing (this deserves some hi-res pics!)
I love the pedal/straps! I have friend who did a one-woman-band and had an amazing setup with a bass drum/backpack with the top of a hi-hat stand through the shell coming out on top. The kick pedal was inside the bass drum and they were activated by cables that she connected via carabiner to the loops on the backs of her sneakers. She played guitar and sang while playing the drums with her feet. Worked and sounded great!

Hi,
That thing looks awesome! Maybe you could call it a "Cocktail Percussion Kit" or something like that.
