Ordered My New Set

Post by Guest »

Thought everything was on go for my kit, but haven't been able to get in touch w/my builder since Thurs. PM, so I pulled the plug on him. Called umpteen times and left messages and no returned calls. I'll be damned if I send any parts or MONEY to this cat.
Anyway, ordered a set from Dennis at Phattie Drums today. He is going to make it totaly custom w/my lugs and design. Hopefully, this is going to be RIGHT the first time out. I've only heard good things about Dennis and he called me on Sat. night while I was emailing him. Now how dedicated is that? I think you'll have to go a long way to beat that. He told me about 5 weeks is what it would take to build them. I'll post pics of them after they arrive. I CAN"T WAIT!!!

phattie cocktail

Post by palacki808 »

I ordered a cocktail set from Dennis some time ago. He called me back shortly after I left a message and has been pretty quick to answer my emails. The only problem is, I have been waiting for the last month for the lugs though. He has the shells drilled, edged and finished, but Adonis is taking forever to send out the next shipment of lugs.

No one really makes an affordable mass produced cocktail set that is worth playing on. So you turn to someone like Dennis to have it built, the end result is usually an awsome instrument, but the waiting for it is a real pain.

Ordered my lugs from Drum Supply House and received them in a couple of days. My big holdup was getting enough wrap for the entire project, but that is taken care of and now the wait is on.

I ordered some stuff from there once and it came pretty quick. Adonis however isn't really a supplier. From what I was told its really just a couple of guys with a machine shop. They machine the lugs individually, that's why they're taking so long. If they have alot of orders to get out they can't just turn on a press and stamp out 60 or so lugs.

The wait wouldn't have been as long with different lugs, but the adonis lugs have a lifetime guarantee on them. I'm not really big on switching equipment, I wanted something that I could have for the next 10 years or so.

Being that a club jordan set is almost twice as expensive and has no real options I figured that having something custom built would be worth the wait.
