Does anyone here use a snare drum with your cocktail set? Like the side snare that comes with a club jordan drum. One of the guys in my band asked why I don't. I told him I had never tried it and didn't think it was neccessary. I thought about giving it a try, but then after tuning up my ten inch snare again after not using it for about a year I noticed again how loud it is.
The question I'm getting to is: Doesn't a typical snare drum overpower the rest of a cocktail set? An 8 or 10" snare is so high pitched it seems to me it would be the only thing heard.
Even after I tried mine tuned down just to keep it from being too loud, it still seemed rough. Is there something that I'm missing or am I just being too picky about my sound?
