Marching Snare

Does anyone use a marching snare along with a cocktail drum. I just bought one. I am working on it now to get a better sound. It is a 70s wood wrapped in chrome. I was thinking of rewraping it to match my late 50s WFL/Ludwig cocktail. What was nice about the buy ($65) was someone added some nice legs to it to use as a floor tom. I am now using the legs on my WFL/Ludwig. Yes I did drill some holes, but it is a lot more sturdy now. it is 15 inch dia. Wish me luck. Dickdog, aka Rooster
