My "Faux-Cocktail Kit" Set Up

Post by Drumsdick »

Hi Everyone!
Here's a shot of me gigging with my "faux cocktail kit" while subbing with my friends, "The Clams", an Instro-Surf Rock band. It's comprised of the 10", 12" and 16" toms from my Gretsch Catalina Maple kit, with a closely-matching Mapex 12" Fastback snare. The small toms and snare fly off of my cymbal stands. The kick pedal is a reversed Gibraltar with a long-stem felt beater. The kick bracket is simply an 18" piece of 1/8"x1" wide aluminum, hand-bent into a "V" and slotted to grab the floor tom legs.

Lots of fun to play, without breaking the bank!

Cool setup! But I don't think this is faux cocktail. As long as you're playing standing and have a bass drum foot pedal, then it's cocktail. I see some people playing seated and to me, that's just a conventional drum set.
