My old Cocktail inspired setup

Post by Mr. Compactness »

I'm new to this whole world so I don't know how much this setup counts as a possible cocktail kit, but I think if you stood up it could be. Cocktail kits used to also have horizontal bass drums yes? Cocktail setups were my inspiration anyhow for this one.

This is a custom kit I had made by Dover Drumworks (www.doverdrumworks.com) which came about because of my inability at the time to reliably use my right leg on the bass due to my disability. I modified a Tama IC Jr. pedal to act as a "remote" pedal so I could use my left foot on the bass, and had two closed hi-hats, a 12" and 14", all mounted to the bass drum. I also added a 12" Piccolo Tom and a 15" crash later (can't find the pics) where the tom was mounted off the snare stand and just like the splash in the below pictures, the 15" crash was mounted off one of the hi-hats.

The snare stand didn't last the way it was because it was too heavy. It was a microphone stand base but it was too heavy so I scrapped that idea and just went with a regular snare stand.

I no longer play this way, but I thought it was an interesting setup to say the least. In my current setup (until the Whitney SideKick arrives) I don't use any cymbal stands. Everything is mounted to the bass or hi-hat.
