I very much appreciated Joe Palacki's guide for reversing "a standard DW 5000" pedal. My plan is to use the DW 5000 Series dual chain pedal but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any inherent advantages to using the AD3 (Accelerator) or the TD3 (Turbo) -- both in terms of the conversion itself AND how it will play afterward. If it makes no difference for the conversion, I would like to find out which of these two models is better in this application. In other words, would it be better to have an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard (Accelerator) OR to have a direct relationship between the two (Turbo)?
I have no experience with DW pedals but notice that there are lots of AD3s for sale on ebay but NO TD3s. Is that because the AD3 is just the DW pedal of choice? Or is it because people have been unhappy with them and are unloading them? If anyone has any experience with these DW 5000 pedals and can shed some light on this for me I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
Need help w/selection of DW 5000 Pedal for conversion
Graham, first off you'll have no problems with using either pedal. DW makes a great pedal. If I recall the Accelerator pedal has an off center cam. It acts more like a whipping action when pushed down, a snap if you will. The Turbo has a centered cam. I believe that this is better for speed. I've owned both kinds but I personally prefer the Accelerator. I would have no problem in recomending either pedal. If the price is good and the pedals are in good shape either kind up. They will reverse just the same. Hope this helps.

DW 5000 Pedal
Dinkus, Thanks for your help. Before buying the Accelerator (there's one really nice AD3 on ebay right now) I just wanted to be sure that it wouldn't launch my drum...and that it would convert with no problem. From what you say it looks like I'll have no problem with it. Thanks again, man.
