Uncluttered The Kit

Post by mangorockfish »

Got off work @ 2 today and came home and reworked the kit. I still am using probably more things than the traditional kit has, but it is mine and I'll use what I think I need. I'm using the main drum, a seperate snare and tom, but will always use these as my main drum doesn't have snare wires. Using a ride cymbal, crash and a regular hihat. I have a tall stool to sit on or lean against. Got the DW Sidekick pedal situated to where it is comfortable as is the rest of the kit. In the future, I may reduce the whole thing down to the bare bones, but am working with a small jazz combo that I really like and it pays well also, so I don't want to have to improvise a whole lot since Friday night will be my second gig with them and the first using the cocktail kit with them. Wish me luck.
Man, I love the Cocktail Kits and they look SSSOOO CCCOOOOOOLLL.

Hey Mango,

How did the gig go?

How is it using a pedal hi-hat while siting on a tall stool? I've always thought of trying that out but never got around to it. (just got used to standing on one leg early on:>)

Glad to hear your having fun with it. Keep us posted

John, the gig went very well. I use a heavy duty cymbal stand with the post and seat of a throne inserted in it. Works great. I use the DW Sidekick pedal though, so don't know how a regular pedal would work with a stool with it being kinda under the drum. :D
