Okay, I know it's very crudely rigged. But you can do it right now! I did it in 10 minutes, knowing it wouldn't be hot, but just to see if I'd dig playing this way. It sounds great, since it's the same stuff use all the time. But, y'know, there's LESS of it. And less is the new more, man...
Just reverse the cam on your bass drum pedal and take the top sections of a cymbal stand and your snare basket and slip 'em over the top of a floor tom leg! I know it sounds shaky, but the weight of the snare and ride really make it totally stable when you shift the stands until they rest against the side of the drum and the leg.
I've been playing it all night, and I can tell you if you're having trouble with the two pedals, I play it like Dinkus here does http://www.angelfire.com/music/dinkus/c ... tehats.htm and it comes along really quickly. One of the keys for me is the heel, and I always wear dress shoes when I play so it's natural for me, but that little platform makes all the difference, as does playing the hat pedal from the side. It's even more like dancing than playing a traditional kit!
Man, that 60's Gretsch I've had my eye on is looking more attractive every minute -- I am one with the cocktail nation...
