Adding a snare

Post by Cocktail guy »

Hello, would anyone have any recommendations for adding a 6 x 10 snare with a tom bracket to a 14 x 22 drum without doing any drilling? thanks

rims mounts rule.

Rims mounts work well. Most come already pre-drilled for several different mounts. Look at John Mettam's cocktail kit he has spacers to keep the rims mount steady and many different percussion toys mounted to it. It's really cool.

Thanks Joe, I can't view the photos from John's set up. Is the part he uses called:
Gibraltar SC-GTS Suspension System Tom Mount, Product #446161? Thanks, CG

I couldn't find that part no. on gibraltar's website. I do however know that cannon makes a similar mount that is just as sturdy, it just costs less. Cannon calls them "suspenderz".

I use them on the little tom on my hipgig set and on my 4 toms and side snare with my tama set.

I'll post you a link to interstate music's site for the 14" 8-lug rim, like all the rims you'll need to buy the bracket or take one off a tom to use it. Interstate music has them for 8-9 bucks, but you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

I know www.amdrumparts.com has the tom brackets for around $5 depending on which one you want, they have several.

I hope this info helped.

Sorry about the broken pictures. It's fixed now!

The part is a Gibraltar Suspension System Tom Mount. Look here:

I'll look for the Cannon stuff to add to the shop as well!

The gibraltar works great! I used the tome bracket below it to give me a clamp for a cowbell rod but you can use all sorts of mounts on it. Make sure you add the rubber bushings above the mount to make it stable!
